There is a cabinet in almost every home that tells a quiet story.
It might hold the crystal glasses brought out only during the holidays. The good china, wrapped and stacked, waiting for an occasion that feels significant enough to justify it. Sometimes it’s the towels folded neatly in the guest bathroom while everyone in the house reaches for the older ones every morning.
Most of us have some version of it. A small collection of beautiful things we have quietly decided are too special for ordinary life.
I’ve always found that curious.
