Every Room Needs a Troublemaker

There is a point in almost every room I design when everything is working.

The proportions are right. The furniture is good. The palette makes sense. Nothing is fighting with anything else.

And that is usually when I start looking for trouble.

Not the kind that requires an electrician or a contractor. I mean the thing that interrupts all that good behavior. The piece that feels slightly unexpected. Maybe even a little wrong.

Because a room can be beautiful, expensive and perfectly put together and still be completely forgettable.

Sometimes what it needs is a troublemaker.
