Rent Free

I had brunch at the Waldorf Astoria here in Chicago this weekend.

I’ve been there plenty of times, but the lobby caught my attention again. The arched bookcases flanking the marble fireplace. The brass details. The deep green glass. All things I’d seen before, but somehow I found myself taking them in again.

And that’s usually how it starts for me. Not a plan to notice design. Just a meal, a check-in, a lobby I’m passing through. And then something in the room won’t let me look away.
